Much of the time I spent visiting with Joel in Tanzania was ministering to widows. While there are widows everywhere in Africa, what impressed me about this ministry was the way he was able to help widows establish a self-sustaining business for as low as a one-time amount of $25. This was important as some widows were not able to support themselves and had turned to other not-so-good means in order to support themselves.
